You must be a member of City Club to be on a City Club Ladies Day League team as well as a USTA night league team.Lafayette Ladies Day League team Members do not pay a fee to play on the courts.

USTA members, playing at night, who are not City Club Members are required to pay a $5.00 court fee. If you are interested in playing on a City Club ladies day league team, please contact the pro shop at 216-6588 and our staff can put you in touch with a City Club team captain at your level.

If you are interested in playing on a USTA City Club team, please check the website, www.usta.com, to see if a team has been established for the particular league you are wanting (i.e. combo, mixed, etc.)

Grab your racket and step onto one of our courts.


Our first-class facilities play host to league and tournament play, as well as social events and mixers. Ashley Rhoney and his staff of tennis pros offer private or group lessons, so our Members learn from the area’s pre-eminent tennis experts.  A 24 hour cancellation policy is in effect for all private and group lessons. Should this cancellation not be made, the full lesson price will be charged to your account.  Contact the Tennis Pro Shop at 337-216-6588 to schedule your lessons.

Our class and clinic menu's are designed to offer guidance, education and a challenging work-out for all skill and age levels. For those seeking tennis lessons to enhance their game, we offer a full spectrum of lessons including private, semiprivate, team and doubles strategy.
 
Men’s Tennis Mornings
Saturdays 8:00 – 10:00 AM
Complimentary Round robin play every Saturday morning. Members are welcome to bring a Guest for a $15 fee.
 
Fitness Tennis
Tuesdays 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Fridays 8:30 – 9:30 AM
A complimentary group tennis class set to music.  Members are welcome to bring a Guest for a $15 fee.
 
Cardio Tennis
Mondays 8:00 – 9:00 AM
Thursdays 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Cardio Tennis is a high energy group fitness activity that combines the best features of the sport of tennis with cardiovascular exercise delivering the ultimate full body, calorie burning aerobic and anaerobic workout. Heart rate monitors are worn during the class.

Cost is $15 per class and sign-up is required prior to each class. Class minimum is 6 and maximum participants is 16.

Women’s Beginner Clinic

City Club tennis staff welcomes you to beginning tennis! Make new friends while learning the fundamentals and tennis terminology. Have a blast with our pros and experience latest techniques! Our pro's help you gain entry into league play or inter-club play. Cost for clinic is $125 per Member.
Ashley Rhoney’s Clinic for League Ladies

City Club Tennis Pros host this one of a kind tennis clinic for league ladies. Don’t miss this great opportunity! Cost is $110 per player and limited to 16 players per clinic.


8:30 - 10:00 AM: Levels 3.5/4.0
10:00 - 11:30 AM: Levels 2.5/3.0 (Split by Division)

The Tennis Clinic will Consist of the Following Each Day:
Monday - Strokes, Volleys, and Serves
Tuesday - Playing Situations
Wednesday - Poaching, Approach Shot, Lobs, Recovery Situation
Thursday - Play Short Sets with City Club Pros
Mixers & Tournaments

As a tennis player, it is important that you know and follow the rules and practice the courtesy of good sportsmanship and etiquette  on the courts.  Please know and abide by the following rules which will ensure a better playing experience for all Members and Guests.
  • Reservations can be made up to 2 weeks in advance by calling the Pro Shop. Maximum of 2 courts can be reserved under one Member.
  • Courts may be reserved for a maximum of 2 hours.
  • As a courtesy, please cancel court reservations as soon as possible so that others may book court time.
  • The use of the ball machine is available to Members (ages 13 and above) and can used between the hours of 11am and 5pm.  Two courts will be reserved with the ball machine and the ball machine must be returned to the Pro Shop after use. Use of the ball machine can be reserved for $10/hour with a two hour limit.
  • All Guests must pay a $15 Guest fee and it is to be paid prior to going on court.
  • Please wear appropriate attire on courts.  Shirts & proper tennis shoes must be worn, no cut-offs or jeans. 
  • No profanities, yelling or screaming at any time while on court. Be respectful at all times.
  • Cell phones must be silenced.
  • No food, glass containers, skateboards, pets are allowed on court.
  • Do not participate in any behavior that would risk injury to anyone else, such as throwing your racquet or any object on or off the court.
  • If you are around the tennis courts but not playing, please keep noises to an appropriate level and respect Members who are playing.

Ashley Rhoney

Director of Tennis

Ashley was the North Carolina junior state champion for 5 consecutive years 1980-1984. In 1984 won the national Interscholastic Championship and was voted an All American at South Caldwell High School in Hudson, NC. In1984 he was invited to the US Olympic tryouts and won the Surfmarc Singles Title in 1986. 1987-1988 was a two time All American at USL holding the No.1 national doubles ranking during the 1988 season. Played professionally and held singles and doubles world rankings. Ashley was the Head Pro at Red Lerelle's Health Club from 1990-1997 focusing on junior development coaching over 25 state champions including Chanda Rubin and Jordan Daigle. Ashley is certified United States Professional Tennis Registry and served on the Board of Directors for 3 years of the Louisiana Tennis Association. Ashley has been the Director of Tennis at City Club since its inception in the summer of 2001.

Brian Sullivan

Head Tennis Pro

Brian achieved a #1 ranking in the state of Colorado in the 14’s and was ranked in the top 14’s-18’s, playing in all of the biggest National tournaments. While in high school in Englewood, CO he won 4 state titles and was the first player to attain a 76-0 record. He was a high school All-American his junior and senior years. Brian then played D1 tennis at UC Irvine and Arizona State University. He was a Captain for Arizona State University eventually becoming the Assistant Coach. He got a taste of tennis fame by playing against some of the greats along the way in particular including John McEnroe at Kalamazoo, MI. He held roles as Assistant General Manager, Tennis Director and Academy Director at clubs and academies in Denver, Lakewood and Boulder. After being a teaching pro at City Club (2009-2010) he took his turn at collegiate coaching at West Virginia State, the University of Wisconsin and the University of the Pacific as Assistant Coach.

Buck Bobo

Buck Bobo is USTA Certified and was ranked top 10 in junior boys 16-18's in Alabama. He has over 17 years experience. Buck served as Head Pro Peninsula Racket Club for 8 years, was Director of Tennis at Beach Club for 3 years, and Co-Director of Tennis/Head Pro City of Gulf Shores for 4 years. He coached at the Alabama Southern Davis/Fed Cup in 2002 and coached numerous juniors with state, sectional and national rankings - some that went on to play Division I, II & III college tennis. He was the AES High School Coach from 2013-2018 where he lead the team to the team to 5 straight Regional titles - 4 Girls State LHSAA championships in 5 years, 1 Boys State LHSAA Championship. He was the Head Coach of Team Louisiana Junior Southern Cup in 2017 & 2018.
